A practising physiotherapist since 1963 — After qualifying as a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist from the New Zealand School of Physiotherapy, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, Tom has worked in the physiotherapy departments of several major hospitals in New Zealand, Australia, Kenya, England and Scotland.

In 1976 Tom gained postgraduate Diploma in Teaching Physiotherapy. He then went to teach for 10 years at the Wolverhampton School of Physiotherapy, England and the Queens College (now Caledonian University, Glasgow, Scotland).

It was Tom’s interest in clinical work which made him return to the NHS where he gained further experience managing physiotherapy services and treating people suffering from all kinds of pain and disabilities.

Within the past five years Tom has developed a unique psychosocial and holistic approach to the treatment of people suffering with chronic pain.

In addition, he’s gained a degree in behavioural psychology from the Open University, Master in Public Health from Glasgow University and holds various qualifications in alternative therapies. Tom was also one of the first physiotherapists to conduct a research on ‘Falls in the elderly who live at home’ His paper was presented at the first European Conference on Research in Rehabilitation Medicine in Edinburgh in 1983. In 1986 he introduced the General Practitioners (GP) Open Access in Ayrshire - the ability of GP’s to refer patients directly to physiotherapy.

Tom is currently working on the Healthy Back Promotion Programme - an approach designed to help people control their pain in order to live as normal a life as possible.

In 2005 Tom Obonyo started up his own private practice in Ayrshire, Scotland. Tom currently practises from his three practises located at the James Street Clinic, Dalry, Templehill Clinic, Troon and the Chiropody Clinic in Paisley Renfrewshire.

Tom has a lot of interest in alternative therapy and is currently focusing his interest on finding out more about the ability to use Energy Healing as a healing therapy to strikingly reduce pain and accelerate the healing process.
